Production Planner and Quality Assurance Engineer
Production Planning:
The Production Planner and Quality Assurance Engineer will play a crucial role in ensuring the seamless coordination of production activities and maintaining the highest standards of quality across all aspects of our manufacturing processes. This position also requires collaboration with sales and the estimating team and customers to ensure timely receipt of customer free-issue material.
Responsibilities:
Develop and execute production schedules, taking into consideration resource availability, order specifications, and delivery timelines.
Collaborate with sales teams to incorporate customer demand forecasts into production planning.
Work closely with customers to understand specific requirements and tailor production schedules accordingly.
Monitor and analyse production metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement with the operations team strategies for increased productivity and improving OTD.
Quality Assurance:
Maintain a robust quality management system to ISO 9001 ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer quality requirements.
Conduct regular inspections and audits to monitor the quality of incoming materials, in-process production, and finished goods.
Collaborate with production teams, sales, and customers to identify root cause analysis of quality issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Customer Collaboration:
Work closely with sales teams to understand customer requirements and incorporate them into production planning.
Collaborate with customers to ensure timely delivery of customer free-issue material, addressing any issues or delays promptly.
Provide updates to customers on production progress, managing expectations and addressing any concerns.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of production schedules, quality inspections, and any deviations from the plan.
Prepare regular reports on production performance, quality metrics, and recommendations for continuous improvement.
Ensure all documentation complies with industry standards and regulations.
Communication:
Foster effective communication channels between production, quality control, sales, and other relevant departments.
Collaborate with sales teams and customers to address quality concerns, provide updates on production progress, and manage expectations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or HND in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field.
Proven experience in production planning and quality assurance within a precision machining and engineering environment.
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and quality control methodologies.
Excellent organisational and analytical skills with attention to detail.
Proficiency in using production planning software and quality management systems.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Machining Estimator Engineer

This is a great opportunity for candidates with a Degree in Mechanical Engineering and CNC/Manual programming & machining experience to further their career as an engineering consultant to attract new business for our sub-contract machining facility.
Duties for the role include the following;
• Assist in the development of relationships with existing and potential new customers and actively generate and price tenders for machining work.
• Liaise with customers and the planning/production team to ensure that a quality service is delivered within the planned timeframe.
• Along with the Management team, prioritise sourcing new work to match available capacity to maximise production.
• Generate quotations by the interpretation of engineering drawings to price materials, estimate labour times, progress tenders and create delivery schedules.
• Follow up submitted bids, and negotiate where necessary to win work within profitability margins.
• Pre-arrange and attend meetings with customers internally and externally.
• On order placement, communicate with production team and customer to ensure there is a seamless handover with the information required for the job launch.
• Negotiate extra costs for any additional work required by the customer once the job has commenced.
• Understanding of commercial risk and margins.
• Assist in the development of the company social media platforms, gain permissions from customers to use photography/video to showcase and promote our machining services.
• Research relevant markets and identify engineering opportunities to target. Attend exhibitions and events to represent the company.
